Oh.Hey.Didn’t know anybody else would be here.Huh. I’ll take the company, I guess.Come on over.
Feels like it’ll rain soon. The air smells like it—kind of sharp and earthy. That smell has a name: petrichor. It comes from oils that plants release during dry spells, and when rain hits the ground, it stirs up this compound called geosmin—from soil bacteria. It’s weird. Humans are super sensitive to it.Makes you wonder what that smell meant to people a long time ago. Probably meant you’ve got a few minutes to get the laundry in.
Looks like wind’s changing too. That always gets fish acting funny.Wind can push surface water around, and when that water piles up in one spot, it pulls nutrients up from the bottom.More food means more fish,So if the wind’s been blowing a certain way all day, that’s where the fish probably are!
The pressure’s dropping. I’ve got a little barometer at home, but you can feel it in your body too, if you pay attention. Some people get headaches. The fish’s swim bladders respond to it. Lower pressure makes the water feel sorta heavier, so they rise up.If you’re lucky, they’ll rise to meet your hook!
Psst…Don’t tell anybody, but I don’t really know how to fish…I just like em.
