For this, my inquiry question was:
What are the most effective ways to externalize and materialize complex emotional phenomena (such as imposter syndrome, default guilt, and alexithymia) through physical art forms like soft sculpture/plushies, in a way that aligns with my personal artistic expression and emotional experience?

For this, my inquiry question was: How can memory, generational trauma, and national identity be expressed through re-imagined wartime portraits, where the absurdity and tragedy of war are heightened by replacing human figures with simplified cartoon cats? By contrasting innocence and brutality, cartoon simplicity and historical realism, my work seeks to explore how the past continues to shape the present, how empathy transcends lived experience, and how remembrance can become both an act of mourning and of pride.

Final Project
Final Project
This was the last one of the year! The prompt was to draw two people eating at an all-you-can-eat buffet, located underwater, celebrating your birthday. This was made with cardboard, purple glue stick glue, colored pencils of varying sizes, one pencil, and 3 stickers. The “all you can eat buffet” is the accumulated marine snow on the sea floor and the “birthday cake” is a pile of marine snow. You can have as much marine snow as you want!! I had to put them in deep sea exploration suits because they'd immediately die from the pressure, but I think you can still celebrate and/or eat in them. The strange looking towers in the background are deep sea hydrothermal vents and it’s a (beautiful) thriving ecosystem. No hot glue, so I had to carve holes into the cardboard to slot in pieces and use my purple glue stick. Very fun to make!!

I like these a lot. I think the consistency is a good thing :) There are three that you can go through, so use the image carousel.
The little guy is supposed to resemble a disembodied representation of baby me. The prompt I chose for Apriltober was "guidebook".
The cat paw is one of the sweetest kitties at the cat shelter, Vitani. She's diabetic and the softest cat ever.

These are my favorite shoes. They're falling apart now because I wore them so much. Very cool!
The picture I painted this based off of was taken at Foxton Beach, Manawatū-Whanganui, New Zealand. The van on the right actually got stuck in the sand on the beach and had to get towed out! Click the title to learn more.

This creature is used to bring people down to the ocean floor! I had a lot of fun researching for this one.
The hands are in order of worsening intensity from left (worst) to right (ok). The far left hand is Harry K. Daghlian's hand on August 30, 1945 after receiving a fatal dose of radiation from the demon core. he died 16 days later and there would be another criticality accident involving the same 'demon core' that killed him. Mixed media! I wanted to be a giant awesome centipede, so I did that. The assignment was to make a self-portrait of yourself as a bug, splattered on or shattering a windshield. I chose to shatter it because it looks cooler.

One method of creating realistic work is to pay close attention to the edges of an object. Choose several objects from home and draw them using the contour drawing method. Objects may overlap or be drawn through to create a transparent effect.
